Certified Viticulture and
Environmental Commitment

High Environmental Value (HVE)
The HVE certification, awarded by the French Ministry of Agriculture, represents the highest level of environmental commitment for a farming estate. It is based on four pillars: biodiversity, phytosanitary strategy, fertilisation management, and water management.
At Château Lamothe-Bergeron, this commitment is translated into concrete actions:
- Maintenance and replanting of hedgerows to encourage biodiversity.
- Mechanical soil management across the whole vineyard, without the use of chemical herbicides.
- Complete abandonment of glyphosate and CMR products.
- Rigorous monitoring of inputs through regular soil analysis and sustainable fertilisation.
- Installation of natural insect traps to reduce chemical treatments.
These responsible practices protect the health of the vineyard’s soils and vines, ensuring wines that remain faithful to their Médoc terroir.

Terra Vitis: The Certification of Sustainable Viticulture
Terra Vitis is an independent certification, dedicated exclusively to the wine industry. It covers the entire production chain from vineyard to glass, integrating environmental, social, and economic dimensions.
At Lamothe-Bergeron, this comprehensive approach includes:
- Regular meetings with vineyard teams to adapt practices to the vines’ real needs.
- An internal training plan on environmental issues and workplace safety.
- Selection of local suppliers (labels, cartons, capsules) to encourage short supply chains.
- Optimised vineyard equipment to reduce soil compaction and fuel consumption.
- Precise parcel monitoring, supported by independent agronomic advice.
Every year, an external audit reviews progress, highlights improvements made and sets new priorities to ensure continuous development.
