From the terroir of Cussac-Fort-Médoc, between Margaux and Saint-Julien, Château Lamothe-Bergeron is based on a classic Médoc blend: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. The warm, well-drained Garonne gravel soils promote slow, precise ripening.
The vinification process combines cold pre-fermentation maceration and temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The wine is aged for 12 to 16 months in a combination of 225-litre Bordeaux barrels and 400-litre casks, some of which are new.
The style of the wine is based on pure fruit, fine tannins and freshness on the finish. When young, the wine offers bursts of black fruit and spice. As it ages, it reveals the nobility of its terroir: mineral structure, Cabernet elegance and aromatic complexity.
