Château Lamothe-Bergeron 2023

68 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 30 % Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot

Château Lamothe-Bergeron 2023 is an intense crimson red with a lovely sparkle, opening with subtle notes of tart red fruit, raspberry and cherry. The second nose, deeper and more delicate, reveals notes of blackberry and bilberry. On the palate, the attack is dynamic with good tension, followed by a full-bodied mid-palate with remarkable structure. The finish is silky with generous tannins, and its length reflects the ageing potential of this 2023 vintage.

Tasting notes & awards

through the eyes of the tasters

“I was already enthusiastic about this wine when it was released as a primeur; now, in the bottle, Lamothe-Bergeron shows what it’s made of: blueberries, black cherries, a subtle hint of liquorice and a fascinating floral touch on the nose. On the palate, it is dense, straightforward and well-structured, with pronounced Médoc tannins giving it grip. The finish is marked by red fruit, fresh and very long. An excellent Haut-Médoc at a modest price.” – Adrian Van Velsen “Aromas of cedar, graphite, crushed currants and berries. Juicy and medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and a structured, medium-long finish. Cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot. Better from 2027.” – James Suckling “The bouquet of Lamothe-Bergeron still draws its support from notes of fresh wood, while it has found inviting and refreshing fruity notes! With its slender texture, the wine boasts finesse and linearity. Elegant and well-structured by its acidity, the wine is refined and harmonious. It can be enjoyed young, but it can also be cellared for a while, allowing the bouquet’s elements to come together! 2027-2038” – Yves Beck
